A Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has slammed UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, urging governments of African countries to prevent her from ever coming to the continent.
Badenoch had dissociated herself from Nigeria which she described as corrupt, adding that she has nothing in common with the Islamic northern region of the country plagued by Boko Haram terrorism.
Badenoch made the statement in response to Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima and others who accused her of denigrating Nigeria where are roots lie.
Reacting, Seun Kuti said: “Many have been praising this woman [Kemi Badenoch]; someone who has been insulting us, not only us but our ancestors. She said we should pay Europeans for colonialism.
“She’s saying we should pay them for killing millions of our ancestors; for all the atrocities that they committed in our lands.
“She’s someone who should be banned by African governments from stepping into Africa. Once she steps into Africa, she should be jailed.”
