A 300-level student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger State, identified as Kelvin Danlami, has died by suicide.

Kelvin, a Computer Science undergraduate, reportedly took his own life on Monday after losing money entrusted to him for house rent through gambling.

A fellow student, Musa Abdullahi, expressed his grief in a condolence message, warning young people against the lure of quick money. He said the deceased mismanaged rent money due to gambling, describing the incident as a tragic end to the life of a promising student.

Abdullahi urged youths to avoid activities that promise fast wealth through questionable means and prayed for the repose of Kelvin’s soul and strength for his family.

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the university also mourned the loss. In a condolence message signed by its General Secretary, Aliyu Abubakar, the union described Kelvin’s death as a painful and irreplaceable loss to his family, department, and the entire university community.

The SUG extended its sympathies to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues, praying for comfort and strength during the period of grief.
