The Ondo State Police Command has announced that it will prosecute 25 suspected cultists arrested during a foiled initiation in the Uso area of the state.

According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation after the police received information that the suspects were planning to initiate new members.

“On Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Command received credible intelligence from a concerned citizen that members of the Neo Black Movement were planning an initiation at Uso,” Jimoh said.

“Acting swiftly, operatives were deployed to disrupt the event, resulting in the arrest of 25 suspects from Ondo, Osun, Lagos, and Edo states.”

A Toyota SUV and a Daylong motorcycle were recovered at the scene.
The suspects have confessed to their involvement in cult-related activities and will be prosecuted upon completion of the ongoing investigation.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal praised the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, vowing that the command will continue its fight against cultism across the state.

Jimoh urged youths to avoid cult activities, warning that they lead to serious consequences.

The announcement follows a December 16, 2025 report that the command had arrested a suspect in connection with the cult-related murder of a 25-year-old man in Owo Local Government Area.
