Fifteen members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, including Speaker Bathiya Wesley, have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wesley announced the resignations during Wednesday’s plenary, saying he, his deputy Buba Jijiwa, and other lawmakers had formally left the ruling party in the state.

The Speaker explained that all the resignation letters shared a common reason, pointing to the “lingering crisis” at the PDP’s national level as the driving factor behind their decision.

“All the letters contained the same message. The PDP members cited the crisis at the national level of the party as the main reason for their decision to quit.

“They also expressed gratitude to the PDP for allowing them to contest and win elections on its platform,” Wesley said.

Those who resigned include Kefas Calvin, Bulus Geoffrey, Haruna Jilantikiri, Kefas Emmanuel, Ahmed Belel, Moses Zah, Kate Mamuno, Pwamwakeno Mackondo, Adun Alaba, Bulus Kantom, Musa Kallamu, and Japhet Hammanjabu.
