Panic spread in the Ede area of Osun State after two undergraduates were reportedly killed during a cult-related attack on an off-campus residence on Tuesday night.

Suspected cult members allegedly stormed the apartment and attacked students gathered there, leaving several others injured.

Sources said the clash was linked to a rivalry between cult groups in the area.

The injured victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.

An anti-cultism group claimed the attack involved suspected members of the Aye confraternity and rival Buccaneer members.

Osun State Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident and said an investigation was ongoing.

He added that police records had so far confirmed one death.

The incident has again raised concerns over rising cult activities in parts of Osun State.
