The report shows Sokoto as the most expensive at N3,965.10 per litre, followed by Kebbi and Lagos.

Kerosene prices surged across Nigeria in April 2026, with Sokoto, Lagos, and Kebbi recording about N4,000 per litre, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The report shows Sokoto as the most expensive at N3,965.10 per litre, followed by Kebbi and Lagos.
Bayelsa recorded the lowest price at N1,815.40.
The NBS linked the rise to the removal of subsidies in 2016 and continued currency depreciation, which have made kerosene increasingly unaffordable for many households.
Regionally, the North-West recorded the highest prices, while several states saw sharp monthly increases, led by Kaduna. Year-on-year, Bauchi posted the biggest jump at over 108%, with Lagos and Nasarawa also recording major increases.
The report also noted rising gallon prices, with Sokoto among the highest nationwide.
Analysts warn that continued increases in kerosene and cooking gas costs may push more households toward firewood and charcoal as alternatives.
