The ministry said an Israeli air raid on the Jnah area of Beirut killed at least five people and wounded 21 on Wednesday.

At least seven people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and a nearby town, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, as Hezbollah continues to resist ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
The ministry said an Israeli air raid on the Jnah area of Beirut killed at least five people and wounded 21 on Wednesday.
A separate strike late Tuesday targeted Khaldeh, just south of the capital, killing two people and injuring three.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency also reported another strike on Wednesday morning in the Hadath district of Beirut’s southern suburbs, an area largely deserted after repeated Israeli bombardments and evacuation orders.
Local Media said security sources described the strike as a targeted assassination aimed at vehicles rather than a residential building.
“It is unclear whether one or two cars were targeted,” she said.
“Many vehicles were parked along the road because a nearby school is being used as a shelter for displaced people.”
The Israeli military said it was targeting a senior Hezbollah commander, though the group has neither confirmed nor denied the claim.
“In fact, Hezbollah has not been publicly announcing many deaths recently,” Khodr added. “Information about fallen fighters is mostly coming from social media posts by their families.”
Lebanon became involved in the wider conflict on March 2, when Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel in support of Iran.
Israel has since carried out widespread strikes across Lebanon and launched a ground invasion in the south.
