The victims were abducted during different attacks, including a raid on Ilado community in Akure North Local Government Area, where armed men stormed the area and whisked away several residents.

Among those freed was Fagbonmire Durojaiye, a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and a teacher, whose disappearance had caused concern among church members and residents.Sources said the kidnappers had initially demanded ₦30 million ransom from the victims’ families.However, the Amotekun Corps confirmed that all eight victims were rescued without any ransom being paid, describing the operation as a major success in its anti-kidnapping efforts.

According to the state commander of the corps, intelligence-led tracking helped operatives locate the kidnappers’ hideout, leading to a gun battle between security personnel and the suspects.

The armed men reportedly fled the scene under heavy pressure, allowing the operatives to rescue all the hostages unharmed.The commander praised the officers involved for their courage and professionalism, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies.
