Nollywood has lost actress Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara.

Her death was confirmed on Thursday by director Tobi Oladele Teemony, also known as Tee Mony, in a statement shared on Instagram.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,” the statement said.

Teemony added that the late actress had received “immense love, prayers, and financial support from kind-hearted people across the world” during her illness, expressing gratitude to all who offered encouragement and compassion.

He also asked the public to stop sending donations to the account previously used for her medical treatment, stating that financial contributions were “no longer required.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and everyone mourning this painful loss,” Teemony concluded.

The announcement was accompanied by a video message from her elder brother, Ridwan Lasisi. He said:

“Good morning. My name is Ridwan Lasisi, brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on.

“We appreciate all the families, the president, and members of the industry who supported her. We also appeal to everyone sending money not to continue, as the cause is now concluded. Thank you for your love and support.”
