The piece, titled ‘Malagi 2027’, reportedly discussed the minister’s potential bid for the 2027 Niger State governorship election

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has suspended his aide, Sa’idu Enagi, following the publication of an unauthorised article.
The piece, titled ‘Malagi 2027’, reportedly discussed the minister’s potential bid for the 2027 Niger State governorship election.
In a statement on Wednesday, Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, said the article was neither directed nor approved by Idris and does not represent his views.
“The write-up and all its contents are hereby vehemently disclaimed,” the statement read.
“The Honourable Minister remains fully focused on his duties at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and has no room for political distractions. Please disregard the publication.”
Ibrahim added that the aide’s suspension is immediate, pending an investigation into the article.
He further emphasised that Minister Idris and Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago maintain a strong and positive working relationship, and any speculation about the 2027 elections undermines these shared objectives.
