Madugu Backs Falcons to Defeat Zambia After Malawi Setback

Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu says his team has put behind them the shock 3-2 defeat to WAFCON debutants Malawi and is fully focused on Saturday’s crucial Group C clash against Zambia.

The loss to Malawi, the first by a defending champion to a tournament debutant in WAFCON history, sparked criticism of Madugu’s tactics.

However, the coach insisted that one defeat should not erase the team’s previous achievements.

“People are questioning my technical and tactical ability because we lost a game. But this was not my first match with the Super Falcons,” Madugu said, adding that the team remains focused despite the criticism.

Madugu also defended his selection decisions, explaining that players are chosen based on their performances and readiness during training sessions.

Ahead of the Zambia encounter, he described the mood in camp as positive and said the players are determined to bounce back.

“We know what is at stake. It is a must-win game, and we are prepared for the challenge,” he said.
