The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the rescheduling of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,997 affected candidates.
This follows the admission by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, that errors marred the just-concluded exam.
According to him, 206,610 candidates across 65 centres in Lagos, and 173,387 others across 92 centres in the Owerri zone — which covers the five South-East states — were affected.
Oloyede, who fought black tears during the press conference, said, “I apologise, I take full responsibility.”
He added, “The affected candidates will start getting text messages for reschedule starting from tomorrow.”
KoikiMedia reports that this year’s UTME has been trailed by widespread controversy.
Meanwhile, one of the candidates who sat for the exam, Faith Timileyin, tragically took her own life on Monday after reportedly scoring 190 in the recently released UTME.
In a reprinted exam slip sighted KoikiMedia, one of the affected candidates has been rescheduled to sit for the UTME on Saturday, May 17, 2025, by 12 noon at a centre in Igando, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
