wo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leading political rivals have announced a joint effort to unseat his coalition government in an election expected later this year.

Former prime ministers Naftali Bennett, a right-wing leader, and Yair Lapid, a centrist, said on Sunday that they are merging their parties Bennett 2026 and There is a Future to form a unified political front.

The alliance is designed to bring together a divided opposition, which, despite ideological differences, shares a common goal of removing Netanyahu from power.

Bennett’s office said the new party will be called “Together,” with Bennett serving as its leader.
In a joint televised statement, Bennett said the move was a significant step for the country, taken in partnership with Lapid.

Lapid, in turn, described Bennett as a right-wing politician he trusts, emphasizing the importance of their cooperation.

He added that the alliance aims to end internal divisions within the opposition, consolidate support, and focus on winning the upcoming election while steering Israel forward.

Bennett also pledged that, if elected, he would establish a national commission of inquiry into the failures leading up to the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack an initiative the current government has declined to pursue.

Both leaders have been vocal critics of Netanyahu’s handling of conflicts since that attack, with Lapid describing a recent two-week ceasefire with Iran as a “political disaster.”
