A resident of Jabi, Saliu, who spoke to our correspondent about the incident, said the fire has been brought under control

A fire broke out at Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja early Thursday morning around 3am. The cause of the fire isn’t known yet.

Reports say only the Adidas Sports shop was affected. Firefighters from the Federal Fire Service, Berger Fire Department, and FCT Fire Service, along with police officers, were quickly deployed to the scene.

A resident of Jabi, Saliu, who spoke to our correspondent about the incident, said the fire has been brought under control.

He stated, “Around 3 a.m. this morning, there was a fire at the Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja. No one was hurt or killed. The fire only affected the Adidas sports shop.”

The spokesperson for the FCT police, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Adeh stated that police officers were sent to the location to secure the area and prevent looting. “We got a distress call at around 3:40 a.m. We quickly sent our men there to secure the place and prevent any disruption of public order,” she said.

Newsmen had earlier reported a fire incident at the Old Karu market in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

The fire, which destroyed goods worth millions of naira, was brought under control by officials from the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, and Julius Berger Fire Service.
