The media office of Afghanistan’s eastern military corps said “heavy clashes” began late Thursday as a reaction to recent air strikes allegedly carried out by Pakistani forces in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces

Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities say they have launched attacks on Pakistani military positions along the border in response to Pakistani air strikes conducted last week.
In a statement, the media office of Afghanistan’s eastern military corps said “heavy clashes” began late Thursday as a reaction to recent air strikes allegedly carried out by Pakistani forces in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces.
Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also said in a post on X that large-scale offensive operations had been launched against Pakistani military positions and installations along the Durand Line, citing what he described as repeated provocations and violations by Pakistani military authorities.
The 2,611-kilometre (1,622-mile) border between the two countries is known as the Durand Line, a boundary Afghanistan has not formally recognised.
Pakistan had not immediately responded to the claims.
On Sunday, Pakistan’s military said it carried out strikes along the Afghanistan border, claiming at least 70 fighters were killed.
Afghan authorities rejected the assertion, stating that civilians including women and children were among those killed.
