The All Progressives Congress has scheduled Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.

The party announced the timetable in a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and released on Wednesday.

The APC said the schedule followed the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.

The affected constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II in Delta State, while Yagba West II is in Kogi State.

For the legislative bye-elections, the party listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi, Udu State Constituency in Delta and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.

According to the APC timetable, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms began on August 18 and will end on August 20. Aspirants are also expected to submit their completed forms and supporting documents by August 20.

Screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and the consideration of appeals will take place on Friday, August 21, ahead of the primary elections on Saturday, August 22.

Election appeals have been scheduled for Monday, August 24.

The APC fixed the expression of interest fee for State House of Assembly aspirants at N1 million, while the nomination fee is N5 million, bringing the total to N6 million.

For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is N1 million, while the nomination fee is N9 million, making a total of N10 million.

The party also stated that female, youth and physically challenged aspirants would pay the prescribed expression of interest fee and 50 per cent of the nomination fee for their respective positions.

The development follows INEC’s decision to restore the four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi after court judgments.

The constituencies had remained without direct representation in their respective State Houses of Assembly for several years.

The APC timetable also covers the forthcoming legislative bye-elections across the four states. In Gombe State, the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat became vacant following the death of the former lawmaker, Tongo Yaya.

The party said the primary elections would provide an opportunity for its members to choose candidates who will represent the APC in the affected constituencies during the forthcoming elections.
