Richarlison’s Late Goal Gives 10-Man Tottenham 2-1 Victory Over Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea 2-1 in an entertaining pre-season friendly in Sydney on Saturday, despite playing much of the second half with 10 men.

Brazilian forward Richarlison scored the winning goal in the 90th minute, while new signing Sandro Tonali opened the scoring with his first goal for Spurs.

Chelsea responded quickly through Estevao, but failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage after Tottenham defender Kevin Danso was sent off early in the second half.

Tonali gave Tottenham the lead in the 19th minute when his shot took a deflection and beat the goalkeeper.

However, Chelsea equalized just two minutes later as Estevao headed home from close range after a strong run from Romeo Lavia.

The match became more challenging for Tottenham when Danso received a straight red card shortly after halftime for fouling Joao Pedro.

Chelsea dominated possession and created several chances, with Estevao striking the crossbar, but they were unable to find a second goal.
In front of more than 80,000 fans at Stadium Australia, Tottenham defended resolutely and snatched victory at the end when Richarlison calmly finished from close range.

The defeat handed Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso his first loss since taking charge of the club. Chelsea had previously beaten Western Sydney Wanderers 6-4 in their opening pre-season match.

Both clubs have been active in the transfer market during the summer. Chelsea have strengthened their squad with several new arrivals, while Tottenham have added players such as Sandro Tonali and Andy Robertson as they prepare for the new season.

Despite being reduced to 10 men, Tottenham produced a determined performance and ended their Australian tour on a high note with a memorable victory over their London rivals.
