Morocco scored 0.8415 points, just ahead of South Africa’s 0.8396, driven by industrial growth and export diversification.

South Africa, long-time leader since 2010, has seen a gradual decline in competitiveness.

Egypt ranked third, followed by Tunisia and Mauritius, with North African countries dominating the top positions.

The AfDB said the region remains Africa’s most industrialised, while overall progress across the continent is still slow and uneven.

Despite improvements in many countries, Africa still contributes less than 2% of global manufacturing, with weak regional integration and infrastructure gaps continuing to limit growth.
