The primary election result was announced on Wednesday night at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has secured the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election after emerging victorious in the party’s primary poll.

Atiku defeated former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and former banker, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, to clinch the party’s ticket.
Following his victory, the ADC leadership led by Senator David Mark formally presented the party flag to him.
According to the official result announced by the party, Atiku scored 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi polled 504,117 votes and Hayatu-Deen secured 177,120 votes.
The party disclosed that a total of 2,546,457 votes were cast during the primary election out of 3,113,599 registered members eligible for the exercise.
A further breakdown of the result showed that Atiku defeated Amaechi with a margin of 1,342,253 votes and led Hayatu-Deen by 1,669,250 votes.
Amaechi also finished ahead of Hayatu-Deen with 327,003 votes.
