Speaking on Thursday after the party’s successful National Convention, Ojelabi said the APC’s focus has shifted to preparing for candidate selection.

The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has said the party has not anointed any candidate for elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Thursday after the party’s successful National Convention, Ojelabi said the APC’s focus has shifted to preparing for candidate selection.
“All positions are open for contest. The party will not impose candidates on members,” he said.
He explained that the primaries will follow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable and relevant laws, including the 2026 Electoral Act (as amended).
Direct primaries will be the party’s main method for selecting candidates, though consensus arrangements will be allowed where freely agreed upon.
Ojelabi also clarified that nomination and administrative fees paid by aspirants will not be refunded.
He assured that the party is committed to internal democracy, transparency, and providing a level playing field for all contestants.
Highlighting inclusivity, he added: “We will encourage female participation and give special consideration to popular and influential women in relevant constituencies.”
He urged party members to act with discipline and respect while awaiting official primary guidelines from the national leadership. Politicking for APC tickets in Lagos has already begun, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
