Her appointment places the daughter of a key opposition figure at the centre of President Tinubu’s re-election push, raising fresh questions over political loyalty, perception and internal cohesion within the ADC as the battle for 2027 begins to gather momentum

Hon. Blessing Onuh, a member of the House of Representatives and daughter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has joined the leadership of a pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu campaign organisation, in a development that has added a fresh twist to the country’s evolving political realignments ahead of the 2027 election.

Her appointment places the daughter of a key opposition figure at the centre of President Tinubu’s re-election push, raising fresh questions over political loyalty, perception and internal cohesion within the ADC as the battle for 2027 begins to gather momentum.

Onuh was named National Woman Leader of the Take Action Campaign Organisation.

The appointment was announced on Saturday by the group’s Director General, Tony Nwulu, a former member of the House of Representatives who sponsored the “Not Too Young To Run” bill during the 8th National Assembly.

Nwulu presented her appointment letter at the organisation’s campaign office in Abuja.

Speaking after receiving the letter, Onuh declared her readiness to mobilise support for Tinubu’s return to office.

“I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure President Tinubu’s victory at the upcoming election,” she said.

She said the campaign organisation was established to project the achievements of the present administration and educate Nigerians on the policies and reforms of the President.

“This organisation is focused on showcasing the various achievements and educating the Nigerian masses on the reforms and policies of Mr President,” she added.

Her acceptance of the role is coming at a politically delicate time, as her father, Senator David Mark, remains one of the principal figures in the opposition coalition being coordinated on the ADC platform.

Mark, who currently serves as ADC National Chairman, has been involved in efforts to rally a broad political alliance aimed at challenging Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Among those linked with the coalition are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Liyel Imoke and Emeka Ihedioha.

However, the coalition has not been without internal challenges, with signs of cracks and competing interests already beginning to surface.

In January, one of the coalition’s early setbacks emerged when Abba Abubakar, son of Atiku Abubakar, dumped the opposition and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), where he openly pledged support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

He also directed his political structure to begin mobilising support for the President.

Although Onuh’s latest move does not suggest a formal defection from her political camp, her visible alignment with a pro-Tinubu campaign organisation is likely to intensify concerns over the ADC’s ability to maintain a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 election.

Meanwhile, Nwulu said the Take Action Campaign Organisation would concentrate on promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and taking the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to Nigerians across the country.
