Two residents of Ora Igbomina in Osun State, Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi, have been kidnapped by gunmen who are demanding N100 million for their release.
The victims were seized during an attack on a private residence along Aran-Orin Road in the Papa area of the town on Sunday, February 1.
Residents said the gunmen fired shots into the air to scare people before abducting the two men and fleeing into the bush.
Sources close to the family told The PUNCH on Monday that the abductors contacted them via one of the victims’ mobile phones, demanding N100 million.
“We don’t have that kind of money. We are praying they will reduce the amount,” one source said, speaking anonymously for security reasons.
Osun Police Command spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said search and rescue operations are ongoing.
But He added that the command has not been officially informed of the ransom demand but confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gothan, has deployed additional officers to the area.
