The Board said the registration window, which opened on Monday, January 26, 2026, was scheduled to last five weeks and the timetable remains unchanged.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates seeking to sit for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that registration will close on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and will not be extended under any circumstances, urging applicants to complete the process promptly.
The Board said the registration window, which opened on Monday, January 26, 2026, was scheduled to last five weeks and the timetable remains unchanged.
JAMB gave the warning in its weekly bulletin published on its website on Monday.
The examination body expressed concern over the low turnout of candidates at several accredited registration centres across the country, despite the exercise already being in progress.
It cautioned candidates against the habit of delaying registration until the closing days and then calling for an extension, stressing that such appeals will not be entertained this year.
“This recurring pattern, where candidates deliberately wait until the last minute and subsequently agitate for an extension, will not be entertained,” JAMB stated.
The Board also alleged that some examination cheats and persons posing as tutorial centre operators were deliberately misleading candidates to postpone registration.
It explained that such advice is often intended to create pressure for an extension, enabling large numbers of candidates to move to centres at once, a situation that could encourage examination malpractice.
“JAMB is fully aware of these deliberate tactics and has factored them into its planning. There will be no extension of the registration period,” the Board said, adding that the notice aims to protect genuine and law-abiding candidates from being misled.
JAMB disclosed that about one million candidates have already indicated interest in the examination, while many others have purchased their ePINs and are expected to complete their registration soon.
The Board further explained that extending the registration period would be impracticable because its operational calendar is closely coordinated with those of other examination bodies.
“Any extension would disrupt this coordinated schedule and encroach on timelines already allocated to other national examinations,” JAMB noted.
It therefore advised candidates to register early, avoid last-minute rushes, and disregard any claims suggesting that the deadline will be shifted.
