The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called off the two-week warning strike it commenced on October 13, 2025.
The suspension follows fresh assurances from the Federal Government and the National Assembly to address the union’s outstanding demands.
ASUU President, Professor Chris Piwuna, announced the development at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, highlighting recent engagements with the Yayale Ahmed-led committee and the Deputy Senate President as key factors for halting the strike ahead of schedule.
The union urged the government to use the one-month suspension period to meet its demands, which include reviewing the 2009 ASUU-Federal Government agreement, paying outstanding salaries and earned allowances, and releasing funds for university revitalisation.
ASUU warned that it would resume the industrial action without further notice if the government fails to take concrete steps within the next month.
