Speaking at the party’s 105th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Monday night, Wike urged members to return to grassroots mobilisation and strengthen the party from the ward and polling unit levels

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has affirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a powerful political force in Nigeria, warning members against treating it as a charity organisation.

Speaking at the party’s 105th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Monday night, Wike urged members to return to grassroots mobilisation and strengthen the party from the ward and polling unit levels.

“Forget the idea that PDP is a charity organisation. Despite its current challenges, PDP remains a formidable political force. It is too strong, very strong. We must leverage our strengths and move forward,” he said.

Wike addressed the party’s internal struggles, ongoing legal disputes, and strategies for rebuilding ahead of future elections. He emphasised that his focus is on ensuring the party’s survival, stability, and nationwide success.

Highlighting his involvement in the Oyo chapter, Wike said he is keenly interested in all activities there to safeguard the party’s progress.

Acknowledging calls for peace from the board of trustees and the National Working Committee, he urged vigilance among leaders and members, warning that adversaries would continue attempts to weaken the PDP.

“They will not give up until they believe you are destroyed, but I will not be destroyed; you will not be destroyed. Let us move forward,” Wike said.

He also stressed the importance of relying on the party’s experience and internal capacity, noting the competence of its legal and organisational officers in navigating current challenges.

“We have a competent legal adviser and a capable national organising secretary. Experience matters. When we combine our collective experience, the results will speak for themselves,” he added.
