A distressed Nigerian woman has turned to social media to make an emotional plea for employment, saying she is “gradually getting to my breaking point” after a long period of unemployment.

In a video posted on her personal TikTok account, @Koredudu, on Saturday, the visibly upset woman spoke candidly about her situation and appealed to Nigerians to use the same energy often devoted to spreading negative content online to help her find a job.

“I have a confession to make, and I think I’m gradually getting to my breaking point,” she said, struggling to hold back tears. “It’s not easy to come in front of the camera, but please, the same energy people use to make negative things go viral on social media, help me put that energy into this.”

She also voiced fears about the toll the situation is taking on her mental health, expressing concern about what could happen if her circumstances do not improve.

“I don’t know what will happen when I finally reach my breaking point. I just need a job. Please, I’m begging you,” she said.

The video has since triggered widespread discussion on social media about Nigeria’s unemployment crisis and the mental health impact of prolonged joblessness, especially among young people.

Many job seekers shared similar experiences in the comment section. One user, @💝zainab, wrote:

“This is me behind the camera… I’ve cried so much. It’s so tiring after studying and trying everything, yet nothing is working. I need a job too. BSc.Ed Economics, Ikorodu. I’m ready to relocate if needed. Please recommend me.”

Another user, @Stephanie💐, expressed sympathy, saying: “This made me tear up. I wish I could help, but I’ve reposted and I pray you get the help you deserve. Things will get better. Please hold on.”

Acknowledging the broader economic hardship, @NgBabe 04❤️💯 commented: “It’s not easy anywhere.

Some people are just more comfortable than others. I pray God uses people to help you. You will testify soon.”

Meanwhile, @hilarity john highlighted the grim economic reality, writing: “I don’t even understand what’s going on in Nigeria anymore. I’ve been trying to sell land in Akure, Ondo State, without success. Even legal jobs are not an option how much will they pay?”

Nigeria’s unemployment rate has reached an alarming level, and the government is failing to take the necessary steps to address the problem, a situation that is increasingly pushing citizens into mental stress and desperation as they struggle to put food on the table each day.
