Israel’s military has launched multiple airstrikes in southern Lebanon, damaging several homes, according to Lebanese state media, as anger grows over repeated Israeli violations of a ceasefire with Hezbollah agreed to last year.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported late on Monday that Israeli jets carried out “several waves” of attacks targeting Mount Safi, the town of Jbaa, the Zefta Valley, and the area between Azza and Rumin Arki.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Israeli military said in a post on X that it had struck several Hezbollah-linked sites, including a special operations training facility used by the group’s elite Radwan Force. It added that several buildings and a rocket-launching site were also targeted.
The strikes come just days after Israel and Lebanon sent civilian representatives to a military committee responsible for overseeing the ceasefire an important step toward meeting a long-standing US request for both countries to expand their talks.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Friday that Lebanon “has chosen the path of negotiations with Israel,” explaining that the discussions aim to halt Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanese territory.
The current ceasefire, brokered by the United States in 2024, brought an end to more than a year of clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.
However, Israel has continued to carry out near-daily strikes in Lebanon.
A United Nations report published in November said at least 127 civilians, including children, have been killed in Lebanon since the ceasefire took effect. UN officials have warned that the strikes may constitute “war crimes.”
