Okoloke, Yagba West LGA, Kogi State – Tension and fear have gripped the residents of Okoloke community following a fresh attack this morning by suspected Fulani herdsmen, leaving three individuals dead and one unidentified Fulani man also reportedly killed in the process.

The victims of this gruesome assault have been identified as:

  1. Moses James
  2. Mr. Dele Ogunbiyi – The Oluode (traditional leader of hunters) in the community
  3. Tobi Lou

A fourth casualty, identified only as a Fulani man, also lost his life during the attack, though his full identity remains unknown at the time of this report.

This incident occurred just days after the community was rocked by the abduction of their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Oba Okoloke, who was kidnapped under mysterious and violent circumstances.

According to KoikiMedia, the monarch was forcefully taken from his palace in the early hours of Thursday morning around 12:00 AM, along the Patigi-Egbe Road in Yagba West Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the assailants stormed the palace under the cover of darkness, firing gunshots indiscriminately before whisking the monarch away to an undisclosed location.

The chilling nature of the attack has plunged the entire community into mourning and fear, with many questioning the growing state of insecurity in the region.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement, but local vigilante groups and youth volunteers have reportedly commenced intense search operations across nearby forests and adjoining settlements in an attempt to locate the abducted king.

This latest act of violence underscores the escalating insecurity in Kogi State and highlights the vulnerability of even the most revered traditional institutions. Community leaders and residents are now calling on the federal and state governments to act swiftly and decisively to protect lives, restore order, and bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice.
