The Senate on Tuesday inaugurated an 18-member committee to oversee the activities of the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the development during plenary, stating that the move was aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the administration of the state.
Akpabio appointed Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele as chairman of the committee.
He described the committee’s mandate as crucial to ensuring effective legislative oversight in Rivers State and hinted that its composition could be reviewed after further consultations.

The committee comprises Senators Adamu Aliero, Osita Izunaso, Osita Ngwu (South East), Kaka Shehu, Aminu Abass, Tokunbo Abiru, Adeniyi Adebire (Ondo), Sani Musa, Simon Lalong, Asuquo Ekpeyong, Adams Oshiomhole, Ireti Kingibe (Labour Party), Onyekachi, Idiat Adebule, Ide Dafinone, and Mohammed (APC, Jigawa), along with the Clerk of the Senate.
