Suspected Thugs Allegedly Block Peter Obi’s Convoy In Benue

Suspected thugs allegedly blocked a major road in Benue State on Tuesday as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, arrived in the state.

The incident was disclosed by Obi’s media aide, Esther Umoh, who shared a video on her X handle showing the blocked route.

According to Umoh, the incident occurred shortly after Obi and his entourage arrived in the state, with the suspected thugs allegedly attempting to prevent the former Anambra State governor from gaining access to the area.

She wrote, “We have just arrived in Benue State, where alleged sponsored thugs have blocked Boko Road by the Air Force Base, attempting to prevent Peter Obi from gaining access into the state.”

In a separate video shared by Umoh, some individuals were seen running after vehicles in the convoy, which she alleged was an attempt to attack the entourage.

It was, however, not immediately clear who the individuals were or what triggered the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Government and the police had yet to publicly respond to the allegation.
