A special prosecutor in South Korea has accused the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol of meddling in state affairs in exchange for lavish gifts and money.

Min Jung-ki made the statement on Monday, a day after concluding a yearlong investigation into Yoon’s brief imposition of martial law and other controversies surrounding the once-influential couple.

Han has denied directing her church to provide bribes to Kim.

According to the special prosecutor’s team, Kim allegedly received luxury jewelry, a painting by renowned South Korean minimalist artist Lee Ufan, a Dior handbag, and a wristwatch.

Former President Yoon denied any knowledge of these transactions when questioned by investigators a claim that assistant special prosecutor Kim Hyung-geun said “many find difficult to accept.”

“Various individuals, who had no direct connection with one another, approached Kim Keon-hee—not the president—requested favors, and provided money and goods,” the assistant special prosecutor explained. “As a result, their requests were fulfilled.”

Yoon, who was removed from office following his attempt to impose martial law, is currently on trial for allegedly orchestrating an insurrection, a charge that carries the possibility of life imprisonment or even the death penalty. He has denied all charges.

A lower court ruling in Yoon’s case is expected in early 2026.
