Entire Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank are on lockdown due to intense Israeli military raids, according to Save the Children.

The group says families are sheltering at home, fearing violence, and as a result, children are missing school, family incomes are being jeopardized, and there’s an increased risk of physical violence and child detention.

Israeli troops have laid siege to parts of the northeastern West Bank, particularly in Tubas, and carried out major raids in other cities, including Jenin, injuring dozens and detaining over 160 people.

The situation is dire, with residents claiming indiscriminate attacks on civilians, blocked ambulances, and damaged infrastructure. Save the Children emphasizes that this is a systematic assault, cutting off children from essential services like education and healthcare.

The Israeli military says it’s targeting Palestinian armed groups, but the impact on civilians is significant.

The child rights group states that the lockdowns are having severe impacts, including keeping kids out of school, threatening family incomes, and heightening risks of physical violence and child detention by Israeli military.

Israeli troops have besieged parts of Tubas governorate since Wednesday and conducted raids in other West Bank cities like Jenin.

According to Wafa, dozens are injured in Tubas, over 160 detained. Israel claims the operation targets Palestinian armed groups, but residents say it’s indiscriminate, involving blocked access for journalists/ambulances and infrastructure damage.

A video from Jenin shows Israeli forces killing two unarmed Palestinians attempting to surrender, sparking widespread reaction.
