Nigerian gospel singer Nkiruka Ogboruche, popularly known as Enkay, has been inducted into the Recording Academy’s 2026 New Member Class, becoming one of the latest African music professionals to join the organisation behind the Grammy Awards.
The Recording Academy, founded in 1957, is responsible for the Grammy Awards and consists of artists, producers, songwriters, and other music industry professionals. Members play a key role in the Grammy voting process by helping select nominees and winners across various categories.
Reacting to her induction, Enkay expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join the Academy, describing it as an honour to be part of a community dedicated to advancing the global music industry.
Sharing the news on social media with the hashtag #IAmTheAcademy, she said she was excited to contribute her voice to discussions that shape the future of music and to participate in the Grammy Awards process.
“I am excited to become part of a community of music creators and professionals dedicated to supporting, uplifting, and advocating for the people who make and shape music,” she said.
Enkay has spent more than a decade in gospel music ministry and has released three albums: The Kingdom Anthem, The Bridge, and Declaration.
She is widely known for songs such as Yes, You Are the Lord, and Salute, which features Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Kierra Sheard.
