Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has voiced strong opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of failing to improve the lives of Nigerians despite removing fuel subsidies.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Inside Sources with Laolu Akande on Sunday, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader described Tinubu’s government as exhibiting “emperor-like” leadership.

“Despite generating huge revenue from the removal of fuel subsidies, the government has nothing to show for it. Additional income from Value Added Tax, higher electricity tariffs, increased data charges, and bank levies have not benefited Nigerians,” Dalung said.

He added that even proceeds from the naira’s flotation have failed to translate into tangible improvements for citizens.

Dalung also criticised politicians defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying many are motivated by self-interest rather than public service.

“The danger they overlook is that after the presidential election, many governors will face the shock of their lives,” he warned.

He lamented the state of the nation, saying: “Nigeria is heading rapidly into an abyss. We are losing the very foundations of our civilisation. The country is blessed with resources but suffers from a deep leadership deficit.”
