INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, made the announcement during a news briefing in Abuja on Friday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections will be held on February 20, 2027, with governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections scheduled for March 6.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, made the announcement during a news briefing in Abuja on Friday.

The release of the timetable comes amid concerns over the delay in passing the amended Electoral Act currently under consideration by the National Assembly.

Earlier on February 4, INEC had stated that it had finalised preparations for the election timetable and schedule of activities despite the legislative hold-up.

The commission noted that it had submitted the timetable to lawmakers but cautioned that certain activities might be affected depending on when the amended Electoral Act is eventually enacted.
