Obi Mikel has been openly critical of Jackson during his time with Chelsea
Agency Report
Nicolas Jackson has hit back at John Obi Mikel following the Chelsea legend’s brutal criticism.
Jackson netted Chelsea’s opener in their 6-2 thrashing of Wolves at Molineux on Sunday.
Jackson, 23, scored after just 98 seconds, finding himself in space at the back post to nod past Jose Sa.
And the Senegalese striker used his early goal as ammunition to hit back at Obi Mikel following a slew of criticism from the retired pro.
Jackson clearly hasn’t taken kindly to the comments and launched his rebuttal on Instagram after the Molineux clash.
Alongside a post about his goal, Jackson wrote: “@Mikel_john_obi shut your mouth.
“Don’t talk shit, we are killing ourselves for Africa.”
Obi Mikel, 37, took aim at Jackson’s goal-scoring prowess on beIN Sport during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Man City last weekend.
The Blues icon said: “We created chances, we haven’t taken them. And just an example of how Jackson finishes.
“You can see there, even though he was offside, he dribbles [past] one or two or three players and the way he shoots the ball!
“You need a striker who knows how to hit a ball back in the back of the net and that’s what we don’t have.
“I know I talk so much about him and sometimes I sound like I disrespect him. I don’t disrespect him.
“I think at Chelsea Football Club we need a top striker who can get us a goal.
“A bit like [Haaland], 91 goals [for City] that’s absolutely unbelievable.”
Jackson has actually scored more non-penalty goals (15) than Mohamed Salah, Kai Havertz and Cole Palmer in the Premier League since the start of last season.
The former Villarreal forward has now scored 18 times and registered seven assists across 46 appearances in all competitions since signing for Chelsea last summer.
