At least eight people have been killed and dozens injured following Ukrainian drone attacks in western Russia, according to Russian officials.

Authorities in the Tambov region said a drone strike hit a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, in the city of Kotovsk.

Seven workers were reportedly killed, while 25 others were injured, some seriously.

In a separate attack in Elektrostal, near Moscow, another Wildberries warehouse was struck, killing one person and injuring 37 others.

Russian officials also reported a fire at an oil depot in the Moscow region, which left two people wounded.

Ukraine said the targeted facilities were being used to support Russia’s military operations, including the production of drones and navigation equipment. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the warehouses as important logistics centres linked to military supplies.

The attacks are part of Ukraine’s ongoing strategy to disrupt Russia’s military capabilities and supply chains as the war enters its fifth year.
