Suspected gunmen have abducted a cleric of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Gbenga Sanny, in Ondo State.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Sunday evening when three armed men reportedly seized him in front of his children at about 7:00 p.m. outside his residence in the Ilu-Abo community, Akure North Local Government Area.

Sanny, who also works with the Akure North Local Government, was taken to an unknown location by his attackers, while his wife was said to have escaped the assault.

One source said the armed men emerged from a nearby bush before whisking him away.

Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

He added that officers and tactical teams have been deployed to the area in efforts to rescue the victim and arrest those responsible.
