London, United Kingdom – May 31, 2026

On the occasion of his birthday, renowned Journalist, media personality and Chief Executive Officer of Koikimedia, Olayomi Koiki, has made a passionate appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria, state governors, traditional rulers, and security stakeholders to intensify efforts toward addressing insecurity and securing the release of kidnapped victims across the country.

Speaking from London on his birthday, May 31, 2026, Koiki reflected on personal loss, national challenges, and his hopes for a safer and more secure Nigeria. He expressed gratitude for another year of life despite the emotional pain of celebrating without his late mother, who passed away in 2025.

According to him, while birthdays are often moments of joy and celebration, his thoughts remain with families currently experiencing pain and uncertainty, particularly the adopted children and their mother reportedly abducted in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, nearly two weeks ago.

Koiki called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors across the federation, and relevant security agencies to prioritize the safe rescue and return of the victims.

“Although many people may have moved on or forgotten about these individuals, some of us still carry their plight in our hearts. On my birthday, I am appealing for urgent action to ensure their safe return to their families,” he stated.

The media executive commended ongoing efforts by the Federal Government in tackling insecurity but emphasized the need for stronger and more coordinated actions to confront Fulani terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes affecting communities nationwide.

He also offered prayers for the souls of countless Nigerians who have lost their lives to terrorism and violent attacks over the years, expressing hope that lasting peace would eventually prevail across the country.

Koiki stressed that all levels of government must continue working towards building a robust and effective security architecture capable of protecting every citizen regardless of location, ethnicity, or religion.

Appeal to Yoruba Monarchs

Addressing traditional rulers across Yoruba Land, Koiki extended his respects to prominent monarchs, including Rasheed Ladoja, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Abimbola Owoade, and the Oba Sikiru Adetona, alongside other traditional rulers throughout Yoruba-speaking states.

He urged monarchs to take bold and decisive steps in supporting community-based security initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property.

In particular, Koiki appealed for support for Sunday Adeyemo and the newly established Iru Ekun security initiative, describing it as an additional effort to complement existing regional security outfits such as Amotekun Corps, Oodua Peoples Congress and Agbekoya Farmers Society.

“There can never be too many genuine efforts aimed at protecting lives and securing our communities. Every responsible initiative that contributes to peace and security deserves consideration and support,” he said.

Call to Southwest Governors

Koiki also directed his appeal to governors across the South-West region, including those in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, and Kogi States.

While acknowledging the political activities and preparations ahead of future elections, he urged political leaders not to lose sight of the urgent need to safeguard communities from criminal elements.

He noted that improving security across the South-West would significantly enhance economic growth, social stability, and the overall wellbeing of residents.

A New Chapter

Concluding his birthday message, Koiki described 2026 as the beginning of a new chapter in his life. He expressed appreciation to his family, wife, children, friends, supporters, and members of the Koikimedia team for their unwavering support throughout his journey.

He paid special tribute to his late mother, thanking her for the sacrifices she made, including bringing him to London nearly three decades ago and laying the foundation for the opportunities he enjoys today.

“As I celebrate another year of life, I remain committed to advocating for peace, justice, security, and the wellbeing of our people. My gratitude goes to everyone who has been part of this remarkable journey,” he said.

Koiki reaffirmed his commitment as a concerned Nigerian citizen and advocate for community development, urging all stakeholders to work collectively toward a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria.
