Authorities in Abu Dhabi said the blaze broke out on Sunday at an electrical generator located outside the facility’s inner perimeter in the Al Dhafra region.

A drone strike has triggered a fire at the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), heightening concerns over possible regional escalation amid a fragile Iran–US ceasefire.

Authorities in Abu Dhabi said the blaze broke out on Sunday at an electrical generator located outside the facility’s inner perimeter in the Al Dhafra region.

No injuries were reported, and officials confirmed that radiation levels remain normal.

The UAE’s nuclear regulator stated that operations at the country’s first nuclear power plant, and the only one on the Arabian Peninsula, were not disrupted.

It added that all units are operating normally.
No group has claimed responsibility, and the UAE has not attributed the attack to any state.

In a later statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said air defences successfully intercepted two drones, while a third struck a generator near the facility.

It added that the drones were launched from the western border, though further details were not provided, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the attack.
