Israel is expected to release two Gaza-bound humanitarian aid activists who were detained after their flotilla was intercepted by Israeli authorities, according to rights group Adalah.
The group said Spanish-Palestinian activist Saif Abu Keshek and Brazilian activist Thiago Avila are scheduled to be released on Saturday.
Adalah, which is representing both men, said they will first be transferred to immigration authorities and remain in custody until they are deported.
Hadeel Abu Salih, one of the lawyers representing the activists in Israeli courts, told the Media that the pair are expected to return to their home countries within the next few days.
Adalah stated that it is closely monitoring the process to ensure their release is carried out as planned.
Abu Keshek and Avila were among dozens of activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission attempting to deliver aid to Gaza amid the ongoing conflict and Israeli blockade.
The flotilla was intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters near Greece.
While 168 other activists were taken to Crete and later released, the two men were transferred to Israel and detained for further questioning.
Abu Salih described the detention as βa clear violation of international lawβ, arguing that the legal process lacked any valid basis and was aimed at punishing the activists for challenging the blockade on Gaza.
According to Adalah, the two activists were held in isolation under harsh conditions despite participating in what it described as a peaceful civilian mission.
