In a statement on Monday, Ali Abdollahi, head of Iran’s unified military command, said any US forces entering the strait would be targeted.

Iran’s military has warned the United States Navy to stay out of the Strait of Hormuz after President Donald Trump announced that the US would “help free up” ships stranded in the strategic waterway.
In a statement on Monday, Ali Abdollahi, head of Iran’s unified military command, said any US forces entering the strait would be targeted.
He also advised commercial vessels and oil tankers not to move unless they are coordinating with Iranian authorities.
“We warn that any foreign armed forces, especially the aggressive US military, will be attacked if they attempt to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement said.
On Sunday, Trump said he was launching an operation called “Project Freedom” at the request of countries whose ships are stuck in the strait, describing them as “neutral and innocent bystanders.”
“For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have informed these countries that we will guide their ships safely out of these restricted waterways, so they can continue their activities freely,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, without naming the countries involved.
He added that many of the stranded vessels are running low on food and essential supplies needed to maintain safe and healthy conditions for their crews, warning that any interference with the operation would be met with force.
US Central Command said it would support the mission with 15,000 military personnel, more than 100 aircraft operating on land and at sea, as well as warships and drones.
