The revelation came during the 52nd-year celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, also called Lalude, on March 30, 2026.

Fuji musician Saheed Okunola, popularly known as Saheed Osupa, has ignited controversy after openly admitting to using voodoo, or juju, to advance his music career.
The revelation came during the 52nd-year celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, also called Lalude, on March 30, 2026.
A video of the event, which went viral on Wednesday, shows Osupa advising his backup singers to use voodoo to improve their stage performance. He emphasised that the practice is meant for well-being, not harm.
“Someone once told me to deny being a fetish person in an interview, but I refused. I didn’t harm anyone with my juju. I just want to progress. That’s why I always pay obeisance to my Ifa,” Osupa said.
He added humorously, “If I don’t engage in voodoo, what else should I use? Is it Phensic or Panadol that will make me successful? Even if one isn’t extremely rich, one should enjoy comfort.”
The Fuji star also said voodoo is widespread, noting, “While some people hide it, I do mine openly. All claims that I rely only on the Bible and Quran are lies.”
His statements drew strong reactions from Islamic clerics. Cleric Alagusiy urged him to abandon the practices, saying, “Return to God. He’s the one who made you famous and rich, not Ifa or juju.”
Cleric Uwais Lukman criticised Osupa for balancing religious expectations with his music career, while Islamic commentator General Tom accused him of disrespecting God.
Responding to the backlash, Osupa insisted he has never discredited any holy book and acknowledged both Jesus and Prophet Muhammad. He also criticised what he described as insincerity among some critics.
The controversy continues to spark debate across both religious and entertainment circles.
