A soldier and a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were injured after an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, exploded during a joint security operation in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

Makama said the explosion occurred at about 8:35am on March 18 while troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade were carrying out an operation in the Orsu general area.
According to him, the operatives were working around a suspected hideout of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, when they stepped on a concealed pressure-activated IED.
The device exploded and left the two security personnel injured.
He said they were immediately given first aid before being taken to a medical facility for further treatment.
Makama added that operations were still ongoing in the area to dismantle criminal hideouts and improve security.
