A middle-aged man named Kehinde has been killed and several others injured following a violent clash between youths in the Asalu community of Lalupon, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Confirming the incident on Monday, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that a suspect, Giwa Sodiq, had been arrested in connection with the killing.
Preliminary investigations revealed that community leaders alerted the Iyana-Offa Police Division after security guards reported a confrontation among youths in the early hours of the day.
“The injured were immediately taken to Ojo Oluwa Hospital in Iyana-Offa. Sadly, one of the victims, Kehinde, also known as ‘Ogo Ojigbo,’ later succumbed to his injuries,” Olayinka said.
He further stated that police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, visited the scene and the hospital to collect evidence, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The police spokesman confirmed that the deceased’s body had been deposited at the morgue of Adeoyo State Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, praised the officers for their quick response and urged residents to stay vigilant by reporting suspicious activities.
He also appealed to the public to provide any information about the fleeing suspects to assist law enforcement.
