Lagos residents on Thursday took to the streets to protest the “epileptic” electricity supply across the state, expressing frustration over persistent blackouts.

A video circulating on social media showed mainly young Nigerians marching through the Fadeyi area, carrying placards and chanting against what they described as a collapsing power sector that is “killing” local businesses.

Some of the placards read: “No more estimated billing,” “No more epileptic power supply,” “No light, no life, no nation,” and “You’re destroying, killing so many businesses; give us regular light.”

“We are not asking for too much,” one protester shouted in the footage. “Make them give us light!”

The Lagos protest is part of a series of demonstrations across Nigeria. In Osun State, the Nigerian Youth Congress (Boripe Local Government Chapter) on Sunday condemned the “persistent lack of stable electricity,” describing it as economically damaging and unacceptable.

Business owners in Effurun and Uvwie, Delta State, also staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday over high bills and the erratic supply.
