The criticism comes after security agents reportedly tried and failed to arrest El-Rufai at Abuja International Airport following his return from Cairo, Egypt

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has taken aim at former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of hypocrisy for now championing the rule of law after allegedly oppressing citizens during his tenure.
The criticism comes after security agents reportedly tried and failed to arrest El-Rufai at Abuja International Airport following his return from Cairo, Egypt.
El-Rufai resisted the attempt, insisting he should be formally invited via an official letter.
He said, “My lawyers have issued a statement that condemns the illegal attempt to arrest me today at the Abuja airport upon my arrival from Cairo. Our country must outgrow executive overreach and deliberate disregard for the rule of law.”
Adeyanju responded on X, writing, “El-Rufai who oppressed everyone yesterday is crying and begging for rule of law. Karma, thank you for this.”
