Amnesty International has issued a stark warning that Israeli authorities continue to commit genocide in Gaza. Despite a ceasefire, new attacks are being carried out, and aid access is being severely restricted.
The ceasefire has been repeatedly broken, with over 500 violations in just seven weeks, resulting in at least 347 Palestinian deaths and 889 injuries since October 10. The overall death toll in Gaza since the war began over two years ago is approximately 70,000 Palestinians.
“The world must not be fooled. Israel’s genocide is not over,” Callamard warned. Thursday’s strikes targeted buildings in central Gaza’s Bureij camp and eastern Khan Younis, adding to hundreds of attacks reported by Gaza’s civil defense.
Amnesty’s Callamard is pushing for the international community to keep pressuring Israel to follow international law. She’s worried the ceasefire might be used to hide what’s happening in Gaza. “
The international community should keep pushing Israel to allow aid in and end its blockade,” she said.
