Several soldiers have been injured after terrorists ambushed a team of Nigerian troops deployed to rescue the abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
The incident occurred shortly after the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, directed operatives of Operation Fasan Yamma to go “all out” against the bandits who kidnapped students of Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
“You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children,” the Army Chief ordered.
Troops were instructed to sustain round-the-clock operations until every abducted student is found and reunited with her family.
However, the soldiers advancing on the mission were attacked and ambushed by terrorists.
A video circulating online shows several wounded soldiers lying on the ground with no immediate medical assistance.
Their operational vehicle was also severely damaged, riddled with bullets during the ambush.
