The Department of State Services has recaptured a wanted terror suspect, Abdulazeez Obadaki, an escapee from the 2022 Kuje prison attack.

Obadaki was among the inmates who fled the Kuje Custodial Centre in July 2022 when insurgents overran the facility, freeing more than 800 detainees, including Boko Haram suspects.

He was also linked to the 2022 armed robbery attacks on banks in Uromi, Edo State, and the fatal shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene, Kogi State.

According to the DSS, its operatives arrested Obadaki on Friday morning in a “well-oiled intelligence operation,” though no details of the raid were released.

The service added that Obadaki has confessed to orchestrating the Kuje jailbreak after being transferred from Kabba Custodial Centre in June 2022.
